How to Join the High Feather World

WHAT IS THIS ABOUT?

Molly Malta previewing her High Feather Wars vaudeville style / mad lib performance for us.

For the past two months, our newly-formed team of artists and performers have been exploring a new video space platform. Just as we’re starting to feel zoomed out right before the holidays, there is another way!

Live interaction, entertainment and even a change of scenery with custom-made virtual backdrops give you the sense of a shared experience in a totally different and exciting environment. We recently celebrated a successful debut of the Party Pirate Cove art space and are excited to share with you this week our feature concept space: High Feather Worlds!

You are invited to journey with us to 19th century Buffalo, NY. Come test the technological advancements we’ve made in this new era and discover our choose-your-own-adventure Victorian-land. Create space (incognito-mode available) or show more than face in our Vaudeville Theatre. You’re welcome to participate through your microphones or by chat and emojis. And if you’re lucky, you might get invited to our…  “Hsssh, secret… den below…”

🦚 TAKE FLIGHT IN HIGH FEATHER WORLDS 🎻

Discover our Vaudeville Theatre with Music and More!

This THURSDAY at 7pm PST / 10pm EST be part of a Victorian-themed virtual variety show with interactive entertainment!

Wear a onesie and dress down, or get dolled up in your corsets and cravats as you pioneer along with us and this emerging format of socializing online.

Move freely around the user-friendly interactive world and explore. This app is not your typical video conference.  Move around!  Join different conversations!

Our events feature a rotating cast of characters. See below for this week’s listing.

TECHNICAL TIPS / ORIENTATION

Test your tech. Important note: use a headset for audio to reduce echo for everyone.

When you join the space, you will be prompted to turn on your microphone and camera with a preview to test if it’s working.

If it’s your first time to our events, we welcome you to show up 10 minutes early so we can orient you, troubleshoot and address any tech questions before the event gets going.

Microphone or camera issues? All good. If you can’t figure it out this time, you can sit back and use chat or body language or other gestures to communicate!

On a computer with a stable internet connection, click the button above to join the event. If you are on mobile, you will not be able to see any shared videos and may have connectivity, audio or other issues.

This is still a very new app, but it is generally stable. Most tech issues can be resolved by:

  • Use a laptop or desktop computer.
  • Closing browser tabs. Forreal.
  • Refreshing the page and re-joining the room with different audio/video settings.
  • Using a headset, especially if people are complaining of echo. You can always mute yourself but we like to have you un-muted if possible.
  • Troubleshooting your internet connection. Check if you have a 5G wifi network available. Get closer to your router, or reset your router.

The first time you join, you will see a quick guided tour. You can access this again in the top-right corner of the screen where it says Need Help? and then click Tutorial.

I am reposting it here for easy reference:

If you have any questions please find Pearl or one of the other hosts with a badge on their bubble. We’ll follow up after the event to see if you had any questions, feedback, or offerings for future gatherings.
